Who pays for my psychology sessions under WorkCover?

If your claim is accepted, the WorkCover insurer typically pays for your treatment directly. There is generally no out-of-pocket cost for you.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

Yes, you will need a referral from your nominated treating doctor (GP) along with your claim number to commence services.

Is my information shared with my employer?

Clinical notes remain confidential. However, psychologists provide progress reports to the insurer and GP regarding your capacity for work and recovery progress.

How many sessions can I have?

The number of sessions is determined by your clinical need and is subject to approval by the insurer based on treatment plans submitted by your psychologist.

Can I see a psychologist via Telehealth?

Yes, WorkCover NSW supports Telehealth clinical consultations, allowing you to access specialist support from anywhere in the state.
